Four organisations joined the Digital Product Management Industry Project Course in the autumn semester, all of which presented a unique challenge to the student teams. On the first Friday in January, the students presented their prototypes to representatives of the organisations and fellow students.
Pricewaterhouse Coopers tasked their team with creating a unified digital environment that simplifies how entrepreneurs interact with the state and access public services. SK ID Solutions presented a challenge where students assessed the market demand for digital signature solutions outside Estonia, and the background research culminated in a prototype that was useful to the company.
The University of Tartu presented two challenges. The team, working with the University of Tartu's IT department, came up with a digital product that would educate students about their financial responsibilities during studies. Reimo Rehkli, editor-in-chief of the University of Tartu website, worked with a team to develop the university's website, addressing pains and needs of various user groups. For example, to make it easier for students to choose a research supervisor and to make the work of researchers more visible.
Both students and company representatives were pleased with the projects completed, even though the semester was busy and full of challenges. The enthusiastic students researched and validated the challenges presented to them, did a lot of background research, gathered feedback from users, and created prototypes that matched their company's style.
Elis Raudkett, a representative of Pricewaterhouse Coopers International, pointed out that their team has done a very good job since the beginning of the semester and their broad field has taken a clear focus. Karl Rammo, an analyst at the Information Technology Office at the University of Tartu, said: "I have noticed the development of students' problem-solving skills and enthusiasm for coping with real challenges. It is inspiring to see how the experiences gained in the project shape their professional development and foster a spirit of cooperation."
More detailed descriptions of the projects are each linked in the article.
